Wado Ryu Karate: The Complete Art Uncovered This is a very easy book to follow for all skills and ages, filled with lots of photographs and related texts in its 236 pages it’s one of those books that’s so easy to casually flick through to find interesting techniques to try or using the excellent Contents Index to find specific areas your looking for. All techniques, stances and applications are names both in English and Japanese making them easy to learn. The book starts with a short history of Wado Ryu, its Founder Hironori Ohtsuka, basic etiquette and even some great warm up techniques before moving on to basic techniques. As well as covering the slightly more advanced Kihon Gumite pair work it also includes the Knife, sword and kneeling pair work techniques used by the more advanced students. It does not cover the basic pair work (Oyho Gumite and Sambon Gumite) but the authors companion book "Fighting Techniques Uncovered" does. Kata is of great importance and unlike a lot of books this one not only covers the 5 basic Pinan Katas but also the 10 Senior Kata including two alternative variations of both Bassai and Niseishi Katas.
