Product Information

Cecil Lewis's life spans the 20th century. A renowned pilot in the RAF during World War I, he was also a founder member of the BBC, and a prolific writer.

This book is the last in a series which could be called his memoirs.

Here he writes about one of his earlier adventures, just after World War I, when he became the first English flying instructor to the nascent Chinese Air Force and flew the first commercial service in China between Peking and Shanghai in 1921. Cecil Lewis had to wait nearly a year for the aircraft to arrive from England, so he had ample time to discover Peking and its surroundings.

This is a fasinating book about a world now forgotten but very much present and alive in the mind of the author.

Cecil Lewis died in 1996.
